Is Gina Carano is finally returning to MMA?
UFC president Dana White told reporters Friday (July 18) in Dublin that the former face of women’s MMA will face off against current star Ronda Rousey for the women’s bantamweight title… likely during UFC 181 in Las Vegas this December.
But, it all depends if Carano signs a new deal, he said, according to Yahoo Sports.
Both White and UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta met with Carano and her attorney earlier this week in an attempt to finalize a new deal. She’s still under contract with the UFC through her old Strikeforce contract and has four fights remaining on that contract.
If the fight does happen, Carano will enter the octagon for the first time in six years. She last fought in 2009, losing badly to Cris “Cyborg” Justino.
With the women’s MMA fighters vastly better since she last fought and Rousey being arguably the best, does Carano stand a change?
