Andrew Wiggins to Minnesota for Kevin Love? That’s that talk circulating around the league.
While talks were said to have began between the Cavs and Minnesota Timberwolves, things stalled because the Cavs weren’t willing to deal #1 draft pick Wiggins. However, word is the team is now open to it, reports ESPN.com.
If Wiggins is indeed available, a blockbuster deal could be in the works. However, things can’t be finalized for, at least, a month. Cleveland is currently in discussions with Wiggins’ representatives about signing the rookie… and when they do sign him, they would have to wait 30 days before trading him.
Despite the report, the team and its coach David Blatt have publicly stated that their new prospect was not an option, calling reports nothing but “rumors.”
So, we’ll have to wait and see how this plays around.
The three-time All-Star is set become a free agent after the 2014-15 season. He’s also has told the Timberwolves he will not re-sign with them, prompting the team to field trade offers.
In addition to Cleveland, the T-Wolves have also been in talks with the Golden State Warriors, who have offered up All-Star David Lee and Harrison Barnes for Love, but their unwillingness to include Klay Thompson has led to a stalemate as well, sources said.
