Rick Ross was set to perform at Chene Park in Detroit Saturday night (June 21) for HOT 107.5’s Summer Jamz 17 concert, but his appearance was abruptly cancelled before he went on.
There’s no official announcement as to why, but sources say Detroit legend Trick Trick ran him out of the concert, telling him if he enters the venue, he ain’t leaving.
In a video from the show, 107.5’s program director Jay Hicks hit the stage to address the crowd, echoing that same explanation. “We had Rick Ross right outside here tonight. At about 11 o’clock, when he was pulling up to come into Chene Park, he was met by 100 individuals outside. We have tried to pull every resource together and asked him to come back. He is in fear of his life.
“[Ross] may never come back to Detroit,” Hicks added.
While Trick hadn’t addressed the alleged incident as of press time, he did post the cover of his new mixtape, The Godfather 3, featuring him wearing a hoodie with the phrase “No Fly Zone.”
Rozay poked fun at whatever happened (via Twitter), saying he was ready to go on, but someone locked the gates. “Luv #Detroit I wuz ready to killm 2nite,heard it wuz a peace protest wit picket signs and locked gates haa,” he tweeted.
