Wladimir Klitschko easily defeated Alex Leapai on Saturday (April 26) in Germany, knocking out the Samoan boxer in the fifth round to retain his three heavyweight belts.
The 38-year-old Ukrainian heavyweight champ toyed with Leapai throughout the fight, using his height and reach advantage to pepper the smaller fighter with blow after blow. From the beginning, Klitschko scored with left jabs and straight rights at will, dropping him in the first round, and then, twice in the fifth to earn the TKO win.
“Glory to Ukraine,” Klitschko said after his one-sided win.
Klitschko improved to 62-3 and recorded his 53rd knockout, while Leapai fell to 30-5.
The champ retained his WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight belts, as well as the lineal title. He hasn’t lost in over a decade.
