The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Denver Nuggets Tuesday (April 15) 117-105 on their home court… earning a franchise-record 57th victory of the season.
Star forward Blake Griffin led the way with 24 points, while Chris Paul scored 21 points and 10 assists, and J.J. Redick added 18 points.
The win keeps the Clippers’ hunt alive for the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference playoffs. They would need to win at Portland Wednesday (April 16) and Oklahoma City would need to lose to Detroit the same evening for the Clips to claim the second spot. Otherwise, they will remain the third seed.
Also during Tuesday’s game, Griffin picked up his 16th technical foul of the season, triggering a league-mandated one-game suspension. He picked up the tech with 3:23 left in the second quarter, as he swung his right arm around to try to get the ball from Timofey Mozgov and hit Mozgov in the head.
Unless the league decides otherwise, Blake will have to sit out the Clippers’ regular-season finale at Portland on Wednesday.
