NHL pro Ryan Malone, of the Tampa Bay Lightning, was arrested early Saturday (April 12) on DUI and drug possession charges.
According to ESPN.com, the 34-year-old was busted at around 5:40 a.m. in Tampa, Florida, after an officer saw him hit a curb while driving. Malone was stopped and blew a .116 BAC, over the legal limit in Florida of .08. Cocaine was also found in his pocket.
He was was arrested and is currently being held on $2,500 bond.
In a statement, Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman said Malone would not accompany the team for Sunday afternoon’s road game against the Washington Capitals. “We are aware of the situation concerning Ryan Malone this morning,” Yzerman said in the statement. “Ryan will not travel with the team to Washington today, but beyond that we cannot comment further at this time.”
Malone has five goals and 10 assists in 57 games this season, his sixth with the Lightning.
