DDTV: Pharoahe Monch Recalls Nate Dogg, Shady Records Rumors

Pharoahe Monch

In the second episode of our sit down with Pharoahe Monch, the New York rap legend talks fields a variety of questions, including his work with the late Nate Dogg.

“We flew out [to Los Angeles] to be in the studio with him for the record,” said Pharoahe, before recalling his reaction when he heard of his passing. “I was in New York, heard the news and thought, ‘A lot of legends are starting to leave us at a very early age.’ I was pretty sad. He inspired him a lot, in terms of his integretity and work ethic. I’ve looked forward to working him again. So, that was rough. It hit me kinda hard actually.”

Later, the rapper talks about being in the lab with both Nate and Dr. Dre; addresses rumors of signing to Shady Records; his W.A.R. album; and why being indie is the right choice to him.

Pharoahe Monch is currently prepping a PTSD – Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, available for pre-order on iTunes. To stay updated, follow him on Twitter and visit his official website.
