RZA Says Wu-Tang Got $5 Million Offer For Limited Album

Wu-Tang Clan - Once Upon a Time in Shaolin (1-of-1)

The Wu-Tang Clan generated quite a buzz last week, as they announced that the group would auction off a single copy of a secret album, entitled Once Upon a Time in Shaolin.

Well, group frontman RZA tells Billboard that the offers are pouring in… to the tune of $5 million.

“Offers came in at $2 million, somebody offered $5 million yesterday,” he said. “I’ve been getting a lot of emails: some from people I know, some from people I don’t know, and they’re also emailing other members of my organization.

“So far, $5 million is the biggest number,” RZA continued. “I don’t know how to measure it, but it gives us an idea that what we’re doing is being understood by some. And there are some good peers of mine also, who are very high-ranking in the film business and the music business, sending me a lot of good will. It’s been real positive.”

The 31-track double LP has been in the works since the late 1990s, and comes encased in a handcrafted and engraved silver and nickle box by British-Moroccan sculptor Yahya.

The Wu didn’t offer any contact info on how to place a bid, but if you’re interested, it’s likely you’ll find a way.
