The Los Angeles Angels reached an agreement Friday night (March 28) with star outfielder Mike Trout on a a six-year contract.
According to ESPN.com, the deal with run through 2020 and worth a reported $144.5 million, though financial terms were not publicly disclosed. A formal announcement will come Saturday (March 29) during a news conference in Anaheim, where the 22-year-old will appear alongside his family.
Trout had agreed on Feb. 26 to a $1 million, one-year contract for 2014, more than the Angels were required to offer him. His new deal runs from 2015-20… when he will be 29.
He was the AL Rookie of the Year in 2012, and he finished second in AL MVP voting to Miguel Cabrera the past two years… huge accomplishments in just his first two full major league seasons.
