Hip-hop fans are buzzing over a new Jay Z verse on Jay Electronica’s “We Made It (Remix),” which leaked over the weekend. On it, Hov takes a shot at Drake, referring to him as “Mrs. Drizzy.”
The rap mogul seems to finally address the YMCMB rapper after he took some slight jabs at the top of the hip-hop food chain. Previously, Drake made a reference to Jay on “I’m On One”; and more recently, in an interview with Rolling Stone, where he criticizes him for dropping — what he believes to be — too many art references in his music.
“It’s like Hov can’t drop these bars without, at least, four art references,” Drake is quoted as saying by the magazine. “I would love to collect art at some point, but I think the whole rap-art world thing is getting kind of corny.”
Well, Jay Z decided to response in the way he does best… on a song, rapping: “Sorry Mrs. Drizzy for so much art talk / Silly me rappin’ ’bout sh*t that I really bought / While these rappers rap about guns they ain’t shot / And a bunch of other silly sh*t that they ain’t got / I’m on my Lupita Nyong’o / Stuntin’ on stage, got the 12 Years A Slave / This Ace of Spades look like an Oscar / Black tux, look like a mobster / Don’t make me RRRRAA yah, n*gga watch your tone.”
What do you think of Jay’s bars? Can Drake even hop into the ring with Hov?
