After making history in February for being the first openly gay NBA player to suit up and play in a game, Jason Collins got some good news Saturday (March 15) when the Brooklyn Nets signed him for the remainder of the season.
The 35-year-old NBA big man had been playing on 10-day contracts… but the team had already planned to have him finish out the season.
“It’s cool. Thank you to the Nets organization, coaches and players, the team is playing really well right now, and I’m glad to continue to be here,” Collins said.
Collins is averaging 9.8 minutes per game, coming off the bench in eight appearances since his historic debut last month.
