Lil Wayne previously said that his upcoming album, Tha Carter V, will be his last… and he’s keeping his word.
In a recent interview with MTV, the rap star confirmed those previous comments, saying there’s only one thing that would get him to return… and that’s money.
“I personally plan on this being my final solo album, yes,” Weezy told MTV News. “And it’s definitely the final Carter album. It’s the final Carter album. It’s stopping at five. I plan on it being my final solo album.
“$25 to $35 million would get me to do another solo album after this. I didn’t smile when I said it,” he added.
But, don’t worry fans, Wayne makes it clear that he’s not fully retiring. He will continue to record music for other YMCMB-related projects… just not any further solo albums. “Whenever I have to pitch in for a Young Money album, Like Father, Like Son album, or something like that and maybe something out the blue,” he explained.
But, with Tha Carter V, he promises to go out with a bang. “The way I’m working on this album to me, it seems like it will be impossible for me to work this hard again for anything else,” he said.
Wayne previously announced that Tha Carter V would drop May 5th.
