Oscar host Ellen DeGeneres made history during Sunday night’s 86th Academy Awards with the selfie of the century.
During the show, the talk show host approached Meryl Streep and explained that she wanted to break the record for the most retweeted photo ever. But as they began to pose, she started asking other celebs to jump in — including Brad Pitt, Kevin Spacey, Channing Tatum, Julia Roberts, and many others.
Within the first hour, she beat Barack Obama’s most shared tweet around elections — racking up more than 1 million retweets and 450,000 favorites for her star-studded snapshot. And right after, Ellen’s selfie went up, it even overloaded Twitter, which went online for a short while.
As of press time, it had been retweeted more than 2.8 million times.
