Is Colin Kaepernick worth $18 million a year? That’s the kind of deal he’s looking for, according to the Boston Globe.
Apparently, the three-year QB has begun discussions on a new contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers, and is reportedly seeking a contract worth around $18 million per season, in the same neighborhood as deals given to both Jay Cutler ($18.1 million per year, $38 million guarantee) and Tony Romo ($18 million per year, $40 million guarantee).
While it’s unlikely the Niners will let Kaepernick go, it’s said that if the franchise doesn’t give him something close to what he wants, he’ll play the 2014 season at his base salary of $973,766 and postpone negotiations until next offseason.
What do you think? Is Kaepernick worth the big numbers?
