Chris Brown

Chris Brown has reportedly been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, severe insomnia and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), the cause of his anger issues, says new court docs.

According to TMZ.com, the singer appeared in court Friday (Feb. 28) for a progress hearing related to his Rihanna assault case, during which documents were filed by the facility where he had recently completed 95 days of anger management therapy. InsideIn the legal docs (obtained by TMZ), the rehab revealed the diagnosis … and also added that Brown was self-medicating inappropriately.

“Mr. Brown became aggressive and acted out physically due to his untreated mental health disorder, severe sleep deprivation, inappropriate self-medicating and untreated PTSD,” writes the facility.

The letter says that the pop star is now on meds for the bipolar and other conditions; and that he’s doing very well. “Mr. Brown’s attitude has been beyond exemplary in regard to his community service responsibilities,” it read.

During his time at the facility, Brown has learned a variety of relaxation exercises, and has tested negative for drugs, including weed, during his stay.
