Sacramento Kings star DeMarcus Cousins has been suspended for one game and fined $20,000 for punching an opposing player earlier this week.
Cousins punched Houston Rockets guard Patrick Beverley in the stomach during the Kings’ 129-103 loss on Tuesday (Feb. 25) night in Sacramento. Then, he got into it with official Courtney Kirkland and refused to leave the court after being ejected.
After the game, he tweeted out an apology.
Disappointed with the way I acted out on the court tonight. I want to apologize and say sorry to my team and the fans for letting them down

For his actions, the league handed down the punishment Thursday (Feb. 27). He’ll now sit out the Kings’ game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night (Feb. 28). He’s averaging 22 points, 11.5 rebounds, and nearly 3 assists per game this season.
The 23-year-old leads the NBA with 15 technical fouls this season and will be suspended one game by the NBA if he gets another one.
