For the second time in the three Daytona 500 races she’s participated in, Danica Patrick crashed.
On Lap 145 of Sunday’s (Feb. 23) race, the NASCAR star was the victim of a collision when Aric Almirola’s car was bumped and lost control, tagging Danica’s right front, which eventually sent her GoDaddy car into the outside wall.
Because of the crash, she finished 40th.
“I felt like everything was going pretty well, so it’s just upsetting, you know?” Danica said after the race. “It’s just the culmination of sitting around all day and you know, it’s a bummer, but that is the excitement of speedway racing, that anything can happen. And it was unfortunate that I was on the short end of the accident.”
Dale Earnhardt Jr. was the winner of Sunday’s Daytona 500, the second Daytona win of his career.
