Ahead of its reveal at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show, BMW offers up a look at the 2015 X3. The latest version of compact SUV gets a refreshed design, a new diesel engine option, and a rear-wheel drive variant.
Exterior upgrades include new, modified twin circular headlights (LED headlights are optional), an eye-catching kidney grille, new front and rear bumpers, and exterior mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators. New paint colors are available, as well as light-alloy wheels.
On the interior, BMW has added chrome detailing, a centre console with optional automatic climate control system in a high-gloss black-panel look, new cupholders with a sliding cover, and new upholstery designs.
One of the biggest changes for the X3 is the new xDrive28d version with BMW’s 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel four-cylinder engine, pumping out 180 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, and mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It allows the CUV to reach 0-60 in just under eight seconds. It’s pricing starts at $42,825.
The new, rear-drive X3 sDrive28i comes with the 2.0-liter turbocharged, gasoline engine with 240 hp and 260 lb-ft., clocking in at 6.2 seconds to 60 mph. It starts $39,325, while the X3 xDrive28i starts at $40,725, and the X3 xDrive35i at $45,825.
