Some might not know, Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson is a dual-athlete.
In December, MLB’s Texas Rangers picked the Super Bowl champ in the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 draft, taking him after the Colorado Rockies organization left him unprotected in their minor leagues. And apparently, after his Super Bowl win, Wilson’s reps say he’ll be coming out for spring training.
“Super Bowl champ (and infielder) Russell Wilson still plans to appear at @Rangers spring training, per his baseball agent, Mark Rodgers,” tweeted Fox Sports writer, Jon Morosi, on Monday (Feb. 3).
Wilson played two minor league seasons in the Colorado Rockies organization, hitting .229 in 93 career games, before football became his main focus.
His exact role with the organization remains to be seen.
