Chevrolet introduced what it called “the most track-capable Corvette in the brand’s history” earlier this month — the 2015 Corvette Z06.
It features an all-new supercharged 6.2-liter engine, delivering out 625 horsepower and 635 lb-ft of torque, as well as a new high-performance eight-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission, designed for both performance and efficiency.
The Z06 was also designed with performance in mind, featuring a number of elements for aerodynamic downforce — including a front splitter, spats around the front wheel openings, a unique carbon-fiber hood with a larger vent, and the rear spoiler from the Corvette Stingray’s Z51 Performance Package.
It’s also fitted with wider Michelin tires to deliver better grip. To cover the wider tire tread, the fenders of the Z06 were extended by 2.2 inches at the front, and 3.15 inches at the rear to give the Corvette a wider, lower appearance.
The 2015 Corvette Z06 is due in early 2015. Further details, and pricing, will be announced at a later date.
