On Sunday (Jan. 19), four teams battled and two teams were left standing. The Seattle Seahawks are set to take on the Denver Broncos at Super Bowl XLVIII two weeks from now, on Feb. 2nd.
Earlier in the day, Peyton Manning led his Broncos to a 26-16 victory over Tom Brady’s Patriots, throwing for 400 yards and two touchdown passes. “Being in my 16th season, going to my third Super Bowl, I know how hard it is to get there,” Manning said after the game, reflecting on a long season in which the Broncos went 13-3 — the best record in the NFL, alongside their Super Bowl opponents, the Seahawks.
Seattle’s game against the San Francisco later in the evening was a nail biter, coming down to the final seconds. It ended with the Seahawks winning 23-17.
Both teams have two weeks to prepare for the biggest game of the season, taking place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
“It will be a great matchup,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. “I think it’s an extraordinary opportunity to go against a guy that set all the records in the history of the game.”
