Former NFL star Darren Sharper was arrested Friday (Jan. 17) on suspicion of rape.
According to ESPN.com, the 38-year-old was arrested, booked and released on $200,000 bail on Friday evening for an alleged sexual assault. The LAPD says they’re also investigating two more sexual assaults that occurred in the West Los Angeles area, one in October and another earlier this month.
New Orleans Police Department spokeswoman Remi Braden said in a statement Saturday (Jan. 18) that the department is investigating another sexual assault allegation filed against Sharper back in September 2013.
Sharper, who played 14 seasons in the NFL for multiple teams, has been working as an analyst for the NFL Network since retiring in 2010. The announced in a statement Saturday that Sharper has been suspended without pay, effective immediately.
He’s due in court February 14th.
