Beyonce flexed his social media influence Friday (Dec. 13), dropping a surprise album on iTunes just after midnight.
The self-titled “visual album,” which features 14 tracks and 17 music videos, hasn’t been out for 24 hours yet, but is putting up big numbers. According to Billboard.com, the iTunes exclusive is likely to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 next week, already selling 80,000 copies in just over three hours alone.
Apparently, the album’s release was kept underwraps, suprising not only her fans, but also her label Sony. Only a handful of Sony heads were informed in advance.
A physical version of the album is in production and will arrive in stores in time for the holidays.
