After revealing the news in a string of recent interviews, Adidas has officially confirmed that they’ve entered into a partnership with Kanye West.
The shoe and apparel giant released a statement this week outlining why the deal with Kanye makes sense.
“For 2014, we welcome to the adidas family one of the most influential cultural icons of this generation, Kanye West,” the statement reads. “Well known for breaking boundaries across music, film and design and partnering with our history in street wear culture and leading innovations in sport, we look forward to creating a new chapter. Details to follow.”
West’s move to Adidas follows a successful run with Nike, which resulted in the release of his uber-popular Air Yeezy sneaker. The rap star said he chose to leave because Nike refused to offer him royalties on the sale of the sneaker.
Details of his deal with Adidas was unknown at press time.
