After stopping by Power 105’s “The Breakfast Club” on Tuesday (Nov. 26), Kanye West sat down with SiriusXM’s “Sway in the Morning” … and seemed to unravel.
During his sit-down with The Breakfast Club, host Charlamagne Tha God squared off with the rap star, questioning him about his need for corporate sponsors and his focus on money. Apparently, the questioning over his vision riled him up… and he exploded on Sway Calloway in a separate interview, when he posed similar questions.
“I’m standing up and I’m telling you, I am Warhol,” said Kanye. “I am the number one most impactful artist of our generation. I am Shakespeare in the flesh. Walt Disney, Nike, Google — now who’s gon’ be the Medici family and stand up and let me create more? Or do you want to marginalize me till I’m out of my moment?”
In response, Sway asked: “Why don’t you empower yourself and don’t need them and do it yourself?”
Ye didn’t take that well, barking back, “How Sway?! You ain’t got the answers, man. You ain’t got the answers. I’ve been doing this more than you.” As he began yelling, Sway told him to “chill out,” to which he continued: “You ain’t spend $13 million a year of your money trying to empower yourself.
“And it ain’t no Ralph [Lauren] though. What’s the name of your clothing line? We don’t know,” Ye exclaimed, when Sway said he had previously tried to launch his own brands.
After finally calming down, Kanye would apologize. “I love you man. I’m sorry.”
