Jenna Jameson

Porn seems to have become much more accepted in recent years. Today, celebrities and reality stars are going the adult business route to jump-start their careers. Kim Kardashian is a prime example — her XXX tape propelled her into super stardom, helping her launch a successful reality show and multi-million dollar empire. More recently, Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham released her own sex tape, and even made appearances at XXX trade shows, promoting her own line of sex toys.

Despite the quick success and monetary gains, some former porn starlets warn that — when ready — getting out of the business is much more difficult than one may think.

Five years ago, porn’s biggest star Jenna Jameson vowed to “never ever ever spread my legs in this industry.” However, she’s recently stepped one foot back in… doing webcam shows. She told TMZ cameras recently, she’s doing it to take care of her family… despite reportedly earning around $40 million over the course of her career.

In a recent report by FoxNews.com, former porn actresses shared their stories of how hard life after porn has been. One in particular is Houston, real name Kimberly Halsey. She also recently returned as a webcam performer after losing her real estate job when her employer discovered her past.

“My porn-ness ruined my life at times. It’s been tough. It continues to be tough,” she tells Fox. “I deal with Houston all of the time. I’ve done everything I can to get out.”

Houston - porn star

Like Jenna, Halsey enjoyed some mainstream success as a porn star, starring in countless music videos and on The Howard Stern Show numerous times. However, she’d eventually make the transition into normal life for three years, landing a job as a real estate, but her past eventually caught up with her.

“I had gained 40 pounds and dyed my hair brown and was in hiding pretty much. I was hiding my (porn) identity. I started dieting and dyed my hair back to blonde and I started looking like (Houston) again,” she said. “Sure enough my broker, sales manager, president of my company, shows up at my site, and someone in the office, in corporate, they said, ‘We understand you used to go under the alias Houston and were a celebrity in the porn industry.’ They said you can’t be on the front lines. Here’s your final paycheck and they let me go.

“I wanted out of porn. I still want out of porn. I can’t get out of porn because I can’t make the kind of money I can in the adult industry,” Halsey continued. “I hate it. I freaking hate it.”
