Delaware-based brewery Dogfish Head recently tapped legendary brand, The Grateful Dead, for the namesake of a limited edition beer, dubbed American Beauty.
Named after the brand’s 1970 album of the same title, the beer is a pale ale made with the defining ingredient of granola, which was chosen from thousands of fan-submitted ideas. The beer reportedly has a crisp, hoppy pale ale flavor profile, but with orange blossom honey aroma from the granola; and boasts 9.5% ABV, and comes in 750 ml bottles.
Dogfish Head American Beauty hits the company’s distributors October, and is planning three release parties, the first to be held Tuesday (Oct. 15) at Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, Calif. where Dead founding member Phil Lesh and the Terrapin Family Band will play a set.
