The former TWA Terminal at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York is slated to be converted into a hotel.
Reports say famed hotel developer André Balazs has been tapped by the NY Port Authority to transform the former JFK terminal into a hotel called the Standard, Flight Center. In addition to a hotel, it will feature a conference center, boast food and beverage offerings, retail space, a spa and fitness center, meeting facilities and a flight museum.
“It is a great honor to be entrusted with the preservation and revitalization of this masterpiece by my personal architectural hero,” said Balazs.
The terminal was previously designed by architect Eero Saarinen.
At press time, a specific time frame for the beginning of the build-out was unknown.
