Following Kendrick Lamar’s vicious verse on the Big Sean single, “Control,” rappers are coming out the woodwork to respond.
On the cut, the Compton rapper calls out a slew of his fellow rappers, saying he wants to murder them all… lyrically. And furthermore, crowns himself the king of New York and the West coast. “I’m Machiavelli’s offspring, I’m the king of New York / King of the Coast, one hand, I juggle them both,” Kendrick raps.
So far, a trio of rappers have leaked response records, including Slaughterhouse’s Joell Ortiz, B.o.B, and Philly spitter Cassidy.
Ortiz was the first to fire back with “Outta Control,” on which he boasts, “Ya’ll knew I wasn’t gonna stay quiet”… and goes in, directly addressing Kendrick’s claims on the “King of New York” title.
“Lil homie you ain’t the King Of New York / You the next thing on my fork… Maybe that’s why you left me out of that sh** / Maybe that’s why the Slaughterhouse ain’t get dissed or maybe I’m not on your radar,” the Slaughterhouse rapper spits. “I’ll leave the King of L.A. to Dre, I was this close to staying Aftermath but lamped out like a genie / Dre you a f***in gangsta and [Kerniss], you such a sweetie and guess what? I’m a free agent again if y’all ever need me.”
B.o.B hit em with a song called “How 2 Rap, using a flow inspired by Kendrick Lamar’s second verse on “Swimming Pools (Drank)”… before breaking into a Drake-esque flow from “Versace (Remix).” He doesn’t, however, call out Kendrick by name.
“Now open your mind up and listen, you n****s,” B.o.B. says on the track. “I am the master, the guru, and after I school you, I’m skinning you n****s. You finished. I’m making chinchillas out [of] n****s. You should be embarrassed I’m thinking ’bout rapping. It’s killing you n****s.”
On Wednesday (August 14), Cassidy hopped in with his own “Control Freestyle.” On it, he raps: “If any of you n****s act silly I’ll be happy to compete, you seen what happen to Meek / Kendrick couldn’t shine on me on a song if he wanted to.”
