After TMZ caught up with Ransom in NYC in regard to recent controversy between him and Nicki Minaj, the New Jersey rap vet stopped by the Sway In The Morning show on SiriusXM to clear the air.
For those not following, Ransom made headlines the last few days, thanks to a few bars on a new song called “Man Alone,” where he raps: “Before Nicki was wearing those crazy wigs / I was doing verses for her just hoping she made it big.” When approached by TMZ cameras, and asked if the rapper wrote her lyrics, as misinterpreted on the song, Nicki went off, calling Ran wack… and declaring that he ain’t ever “gonna pop.”
Well, during Ransom’s interview with Sway, he clarifies, explaining that his lyrics simply meant he rapped on songs with her before she became the superstar she is today… but later admitted he was a little taken back about the way she reacted and her verbal attack toward him.
“I’m happy for [Nicki Minaj]. This is why I wanted to help [early on] ’cause I knew you were dope,” he said. “I can’t see why she would lash out viciously like that… I thought we was a little bigger than that.
“It’s nothing [serious], but when you see me, you gonna have to explain what you were going through when you said that stuff,” Ransom concluded. “I don’t want no public apology, but you gotta apologize to me… you have to.”
