Remember 1990s trio 3rd Bass? Back in the late 1980s and ’90s, the trio — consisting of MC Serch, Pete Nice and DJ Richie Rich — made a name for themselves in the hip-hop game with two white emcees leading the way. Best known for their hit, “Pop Goes The Weasel,” the song hit #1 on the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks chart and criticized mainstream commercial acts such as Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer.
In early July, the group reunited on-stage for the first time in 13 years, during a show in Brooklyn called “Products of the Environment”, during which fashion designer/producer Aaron Lacrate (Milkcrate Athletics) sat down with trio for Ballerstatus.com for a funny chat.
They discuss the reunion show, what it felt like to be on-stage together again, and if Serch could grow his hi-top 1990s fade again.
Before closing out, Serch even offered up a freestyle.
