As part of their “World’s Most Expensive Homes” series, Coldwell Banker Real Estate takes us to Miami Beach, Florida for a tour of Casa Casuarina, formerly known as the Versace Mansion.
According to Forbes, the mansion is going into bankruptcy auction with a starting bid of $25 million.
Versace bought the home for around $10 million in 1992 and would go on to pump another $33 million into renovation and expansion to add a wing and exterior plazas, as well as a 54-foot-long pool lined in 24K gold. It has 10 bedrooms,11 bathrooms and an observatory.
The home was originally built in 1930, boastings 23,000 square feet of living space on a 20,000-square-foot lot facing the Atlantic Ocean, right smack in the middle of Miami Beach.
Versace was shot to death on the doorstep of the mansion in 1992 Andrew Cunanan, a serial killer who had been on America’s Most Wanted list.
