Nike officially announced and unveiled the upcoming KD VI on Thursday (June 27), Kevin Durant’s sixth signature shoe.

Taking cues from the precision craftsmanship of a wristwatch, designer Leo Chang began the process of designing the new shoe around the NBA superstar’s evolved style of play, and would combine technical innovations to complement Durant’s controlled footwork.

Details include: an ultra-thin two layer upper with Flywire for lockdown support; an optical illusion logo on the tongue revealing “35” and “6” in negative space; radial brushed texture marks on the midsole, KD logo and Nike Swoosh; and aa multi-layered hexagon traction pattern.

“When Kevin and I first discussed his sixth shoe, we wanted to create a simplified design that was bold, beautiful and told a story,” explained Chang, Nike Basketball Footwear Design Director.

“As I look to evolve my game, my shoe plays a big role,” said Durant. “The KD VI has the low and light feel that Leo and I concepted from the start and I’m excited to get out and play in it next season.”

The KD VI is set to drop in stores in Washington, D.C. on Saturday (June 29), as Nike celebrates Durant’s hometown roots with an exclusive launch. Then, it will be available globally at select retailers and beginning July 3.

Multiple colorways will follow in August and September.
