2 Chainz

After 2 Chainz was robbed at gunpoint in San Francisco on Sunday (June 9), surveillance footage surfaced of the incident, which showed armed men approaching him … and then, his entourage scattering.

He’s been quiet about the events until late this week, when the Atlanta rapper recounted the robbery during an interview with local radio station Hot 107.9.

“I saw the gun first,” 2 Chainz said. “It was like a .357. It was so heavy he couldn’t really hold it. The gun was so big. That’s what made me take off running.”

He continued, saying didn’t realize it was a real robbery attempt … at first. “When I went into the street, there was another dude with a whole ‘nother gun,” he added. “That’s when I knew it wasn’t like an episode of ‘Punk’d.’ I was like this is real… I had bullet fragments in my hair… I think he thought he shot me.”

According to 2 Chainz, the robber nabbed his wallet … and was looking for money, but he didn’t have it. “He said, ‘Where dem bandz at?’ And I said, ‘I ain’t got no bandz on me.’ ”

When police arrived on the scene after the incident, 2 Chainz was uncooperative. He says it made him open his eyes… and beef up his security.

“At the end of the day, it’s just a part of me growing as an artist, me becoming more pop, me becoming a superstar,” the rapper explained. “This was a sign. The only thing it made me do was have another meeting about getting better security around me.”
