Mobb Deep’s frontman, Prodigy, announced Monday (June 3) that he’s launched Infamous Books, via a partnership with Brooklyn-based independent publisher Akashic Books.
In addition to his own book releases, through Infamous Books, Prodigy hopes to “connect readers worldwide to crime fiction and street lit authors both familiar and new,” said a press release.
The first release by Infamous Books will come on July 16th from Prodigy, himself, in the form of the novella H.N.I.C., a fictional story of loyalty, vengeance, and greed.
Prodigy worked on his first fiction effort with award-winning British fantasy, horror, and thriller writer Steven Savile, whose popular thriller Silver was a best seller in Europe.
Future releases include works by national best-sellers JaQuavis Coleman, K’wan, Miasha, and others.
Prodigy had his debut as an author in 2011 with his acclaimed autobiography, My Infamous Life.
In addition to a new book, the rapper is currently preparing for the release of his solo album, Albert Einstein, created alongside producer The Alchemist. It’s due out June 11.
