Former NBA star Mookie Blaylock was critically injured in a car wreck over the weekend in Atlanta, but has since upgraded to fair. Now, while he sits in the hospital, reports say he will be charged in the accident for driving on a suspended license.
According to the Associated Press, authorities are also deciding whether the 46-year-old former NBA All-Star should face more serious charges… but want to talk to him first.
Blaylock was driving an SUV that collided with a van late Friday (May 31), after crossing the center line in the Atlanta suburb of Jonesboro.
The crash killed Monica Murphy, while her husband — who was driving — suffered a broken ankle. Blaylock was seriously injured, but was upgraded to fair Sunday (June 2).
Jonesboro Police Chief Franklin Allen said talking to Blaylock would be the first step in determining what caused the accident. The chief said those discussions and talks with prosecutors would determine whether Blaylock will face more charges.
