Detroit Tigers’ star pitcher, Justin Verlander, has reportedly reached an agreement with the team for a new, record contract that could exceed $202 million.
According to ESPN.com, Verlander’s deal would make him the highest-paid pitcher in the game, and will be seven years and worth $180 million A vesting option for an eighth year could push the deal to $202 million.

Felix Hernandez of the Seattle Mariners signed a seven-year contract worth $175 million in February. At the time, it was the top deal for a pitcher.
Verlander had $40 million and two years left on an $80 million contract. He will make $28 million per season in each of the last five years of the new deal.
