A gunman opened fire at French Montana’s tour bus outside a Philadelphia Holiday Inn early Friday morning (March 1), leaving one deal and another injured.
According to NBC Philadelphia, the rapper’s entourage was getting off their bus at the time of the shooting, which was surrounded by friends and fans, following a performance at the TLA on Thursday evening.
Then, a passenger in a black four-door sedan rolled down his window and opened fire, said local Homicide Captain James Clark.
26-year-old Jowann King was shot in the stomach, and was later pronounced dead at Hahnemann University Hospital. A second man, 28, was also hit in the shoulder. Fortunately, he was treated and released shortly after.
“I don’t know the person that died,” Montana told the media, as he was leaving police headquarters.
French was inside the bus at the time of the murder with Philly rap star Meek Mill. Apparently, they were unaware what was going on outside. “I’d like to give them [the victim’s family] my regards,” Montana told NBC10’s Monique Braxton.
The rapper was questioned through the night and morning in the shooting, while some of his entourage and fans are still being questioned.
Investigators say two people returned fire after the intial shots rang out. Three were taken into custody for carrying guns.
