Although Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Damon Dash isn’t as visible as he used to be, that doesn’t mean he isn’t working. The once self-proclaimed “cake-a-holic” recently discussed a variety of things, including his past and new businesses.

Via a newly released interview with, at his DD172 gallery space in NYC, the 41-year-old hip-hop vet talked about everything from how his age has changed his outlook on life, business and current pursuits, as well as his past — including what he built with Roc-A-Fella.

Despite falling from grace, going through financial troubles and IRS issues, Dash says he doesn’t regret anything, because he’s proud of what he was able to build, and the product of that sweat equity today.

“Look at Jay-Z, look at Kanye. Every success they have I’m proud of,” he says. “Every time I see them on television I know what I did.”

For those who know the history, they probably know Dame and Jay had a falling out. So, where his relationship stands with Jay-Z today? He had nothing but kind words for him, saying they two parted way on a business tip. As far as their friendship… he says he needs “Dr. Phil for that one.”
