Meek Mill detained in NYC

Meek Mill was detained by police in Philadelphia on Wednesday night (October 31), the evening of his Dreams & Nightmares release party, claiming he was “harassed and violated.”

He tweeted (@MeekMill) a picture of himself, in handcuffs, along with the message: “Cops cost me a lot of money tonight…..taking pics of me like I’ma f***in’ joke….no charges just holding.”

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, Meek (real name: Robert Williams) was detained after his vehicle stopped was at around 8:00PM.

Police spokesperson Julian Russell confirmed, saying he was detained by not arrested. “He was stopped in a vehicle but not arrested. He was only detained in a substation. In normal cases, we do not give out this kind of information, so we can’t release anything further.”

Meek later expressed his frustration with the Philadelphia PD and their treatment of him, tweeting, “I ain’t get locked up…definitely not in NYC with no gun! Cops just harassed and violated me last night in Philly just for being famous!”

Referencing his album artwork for Dreams and Nightmares, he also tweeted: “The crazy part about is I really had a handcuff and Rolex on my wrist yesterday…. Really #DreamsAndNightmares.”

The rapper later assured his Twitter followers that he would be throwing an album release party in ATL, which he’s yet to announce.
