Adidas Launches Derrick Rose’s New Signature Shoe, The D Rose 3

Adidas announced the launch of NBA superstar Derrick Rose's signature basketball shoe on Thursday (September 13), dropping the adiZero tag and re-launching as the D Rose 3.

The fourth version of his signature shoe with Adidas is "the most premium and personal" to date, says Adidas, who will officially the sneaker worldwide on October 4th. It also boasts a brand new logo, which is predominantly featured on the sneaker's tongue, along with a brand new apparel collection, also launched Thursday in Chicago.

The logo carries the "personal" flair Adidas claims, featuring three petals that revolve around the letter "D" and number "1" in the center. Each petal is unique and represents Rose's fast, creative drives to the basket, but also pays homage to his family, each petal representing one of his three brothers, while the #1 at the center represents his mother, the #1 person in the young star's life. All four family members he credits to guiding him from his Chicago neighborhood and into the NBA.

The D Rose 3 is an all-new silhouette, boasting synthetic and nubuck leather, which the brand chose to deliver a clean and stylish off-court look.

The oversized tongue has a reflective D Rose logo to illuminate, while Chicago call-outs are featured on the inside of the tongue, portraying the essence of Rose's background, including an illustration of his family tree and the landmark of 73rd and Paulina in the Englewood neighborhood where he grew up. Each colorway will special, personal graphics on the inside of the tongue, colors and materials to give fans details about his life.

The upper features a diamond cut-out pattern for a functional blend of breathability and support, while Adidas' iconice three stripes are again featured on the back of the shoe to represent Rose's speed. But, this time, they wrap around the outsole so opponents will see them not only when he drives past them, but also goes over them.

As far as the D Rose signature apparel collection, it too is made with premium materials, textures and colors, all chosen by the basketball star. It includes jackets, hoodies, tees, shorts, pants, hats and socks to hook up with each colorway of the shoe.

The D Rose sneaker will be available in two colorways: away (black/white/red) and home (grey/black/red). They will hit authorized retailers, and, on October 4. Seven additional colors will be unveiled through the end of the year.
