Sir Michael Rocks, one half of the duo known as The Cool Kids, is gearing up for next solo project, an upcoming street album/mixtape entitled Lap of Lux.

Set for early August, the tape comes on the heels of a prolific 2011, where he dropped three solo mixtapes (The Rocks Report, Premier Politics, Premier Politics 1.5), and trekked across the nation on a 45-city tour with Mac Miller in the first half of 2012.

The project displays a more advanced and mature sound from Sir Michael, who nabbed producers such as Cardo (Taylor Gang) and J.Hill (Chief Keef), as well as his Cool Kids partner Chuck Inglish. Guest appearances? He's got those too, getting verses from Casey Veggies, Mac Miller and others.

One of the the album's highlights is a Hit-Boy-produced track called "You Know What." On it, the rapper is heard rhyming differently than fans might be used to. For him, it comes with the luxury of recording a solo project.

"I feel like I couldn't have done this on one of my group projects or even my earlier solo projects, because it's a new sound that I've never really dealt with," Rocks explains. "I've got a real rapid-fire flow on there. This is something new that I've just stepped into."

To kick things off, Sir Michael leaks the funky Flosstradamus-produced "Now You Do" cut, which you can listen to below.

Lap of Lux is slated for release August 2nd.
