Southern Cali-based indie label, Suburban Noize Records, has been home to artists like X-Clan, Saigon, Glasses Malone, Sen Dog (Cypress Hill), Swollen Members, and of course, the Kottonmouth Kings, among others. This year marks their 15-year anniversary, so they give you a behind the scenes look into their journey to indie dominance.
Since launching in the late-1990s with Kottonmouth’s first projects, the imprint has gone on to become one of the industry’s most successful indie labels, selling millions of records and capitalizing off the cult-like fanbases of their acts through touring and merchandising. To celebrate 15 years, Sub Noize released a compilation comprised of their catalog’s history, titled Subnoize Souljaz – Suburban Noize Records Underground History V.1 The Early Years. And, dropped a video series online taking viewers through their history.
Dubbed “15 Years of Suburban Noize & SRH,” the clips take viewers through interviews with founders Brad X and Kevin Zinger, who tell the story of their label, from why they decided to start it in the late 1009s to how things took off for them. Members of the Kottonmouth Kings and other signees are also featured, discussing their relationship with the label, its impact on their careers, and more.
