Underground New York rap legend, Kool Keith, is one of the most elusive characters in the genre. You just never know when he’s gonna pop up and what he has in store. The veteran emcee’s career spans over two decades, beginning with the release of Ultramagnetic MCs’ Critical Beatdown in 1988, and includes a string of heralded solo releases since. With each of those projects, Keith has solidified himself as one of the most intriguing characters in music and now, he’s gearing up for his next album, Love & Danger, coming in early June via Junkadelic Music.
In support of the project, Kool Keith sat down with VICE for an interview with the outlet’s newly launched YouTube series, Noisey Rap Show. Hosted by Kool A.D. (Das Racist), the rapper sits down at the Sweetwater Tavern in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, to discuss his pioneering contributions to horrorcore and pornocore rap, the dirtiest track he ever wrote, and various other topics.
Keith gives his opinion on Lil B and Soulja Boy, his take on doing drugs, and clarifies rumors of an upcoming movie role.
Additionally, the rapper has unleashed the latest single off his upcoming LP, the I.M.O.-assisted “Extra Thoughts.” (Listen to it here )
Love & Danger is slated to drop June 5th.
