Akon is finally getting on track for his long-delayed Stadium album, unleashing a music video for his new street single “Hurt Somebody”, featuring French Montana.
The clip begins with Akon sitting in his run-down apartment, before a friend picks him up and takes him to the gym to train. After training, it’s straight to an underground street right, where the singer is pitted against an over-sized opponent in a makeshift cage made of chain-link fencing. Sitting front row is French Montana, watching as ‘Kon is brutalized, before turning the tables in the second round.
When debuting the video for “106 & Park,” he explained the message behind the song and video, and its stance against gun violence.
“It’s really to promote non-gun violence. If you got a problem with somebody, ya’ll should just take it in the ring,” Akon explained. “We men, let’s handle it. If we can’t talk about it, then let’s fight about it.”
