On this week’s Billboard 200, it’s Lionel Richie who holds onto the #1 spot with Tuskegee after climbing to the position last week.
Aside from Richie, rising 2012 XXL Freshman alumni Future makes his debut on the chart.
Tuskegee sold 114,000 copies last week, down 11% from the week prior, blocking new releases from topping the Billboard 200.
Later, Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded falls from #3 to #6 this week, selling another 48,000 copies, taking her total album sales to 383,000.
Future debuted at #8 this week, with his debut set, Pluto, selling 41,000 in its first week. The Atlanta rapper has garnered a following online since 2010 through a series of independently released mixtapes, his latest being Astronaut Status, which dropped back in January.
Over the course of his career, Future has notched eight hit singles on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, two of which have climbed to the top 10, according to Billboard.com, including YC’s “Racks” and “Magic”.
Much later, in at #20 is Drake’s Take Care, selling another 16,000 copies, as the LP nears 1.7 million sold to date.
