Independent Detroit hip-hop vets, the Insane Clown Posse, announced details for their upcoming 12th studio album this week, titled The Mighty Death Pop, set to drop later this year.
Through their signature infomercials, the duo announced the news to fans. Nearly 20 minutes long, a narrator breaks down ICP’s history and long journey to success. After nearly 30 years in the game, they have managed to sell over 6.5 million albums within the U.S., and earn two platinum and five gold plaques.
The upcoming album will be ICP’s first new album since 2009’s Bang! Pow! Boom!, and will boast guests such as Tech N9ne and Hopsin, as well as production from longtime collaborator Mike E. Clark.
The LP will also be available in three different versions: the Red Pop, Black Pop and White Pop edition, each featuring the 17-track release in its entirety, plus a full-length disc of bonus material, specific to each color.
The Red Pop comes with the Covered, Smothered & Chunked bonus disc, which features brand new covers from ICP featuring guest appearances Fred Durst and Lil Wyte. Covers include House Of Pain’s “Jump Around”, Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful”, Public Enemy’s “Night of the Living Bassheads,” and more. The Black Pop version will be accompanied by Freaky Tales, ICP’s single, album-length version of Too Short’s rap classic “Freaky Tales.” Their version is expanded from 8 minutes to 64 non-stop minutes of dirty rhymes. And finally, Mike E. Clark’s White Pop version is title Extra Pop Emporium. It contains outtakes, remixes and collaborations with the Kottonmouth Kings, Twiztid, Color Me Badd, Geto Boys, Scarface, Willie D, Three 6 Mafia, Swollen Members, and more.
The Mighty Death Pop is set to drop August 14th.
The LP will arrive in the midst of ICP’s 13th Annual Gathering of the Juggalos, which returns to Cave-In-Rock, Illinois at The Hatchet Landings from on August 8th – 12th.
The 4-day festival boasts music, wrestling, comedy and mayhem, with more than 100 acts. This year’s line-up includes Twiztid, Blaze Ya Dead Homie, ABK, Boondox, Mike E. Clark, and more to be announced.
