New Orleans rapper Mystikal is set to head back to the slammer, after violating terms of his probation following an arrest in February.
The 41-year-old rapper (real name: Michael Tyler) had been released from prison in January 2010, after serving six years on a sexual battery charge. Under the terms of his release, Mystikal was to remain arrest- and convicton-free.
However, he was arrested in February on a misdemeanor charge of domestic abuse battery. So, he’s been sentenced to three months for the incident, reports TheAdvocate.com.
“It was an unfortunate incident between two people who have cared a lot about each other for 10 years,” said Roy Maughan Jr., Mystikal’s attorney.
The victim in the domestic abuse charge is the mother of the rapper’s two children. His attorney described them as “domestic partners.”
Mystikal is scheduled to begin serving his three-month sentence on May 14.
