Gunfire erupted in Omaha, Nebraska Monday evening (March 19), and YMCMB’s Tyga was the target.
According to local news channel KETV 7, gunshots were fired at the 22-year-old rapper’s van, following a concert that evening, hitting two people inside.
Fortunately, Tyga was not hit by the bullets, but his female rap protege Honey Cocaine was was hit in the arm and transported to Creighton University Medical Center for treatment. The second victim, Derrick Lowe, was grazed in his hip and refused treatment at the scene.
Both injuries were non-life-threatening.
“Got shot and I’m not dead. #LoveLifeandGod,” Honey wrote on Twitter (@HoneyLKCocaine).
Apparently, Tyga got into it with rowdy members of the audience during his show at the Sokol Auditorium in downtown Nebraska on Monday.
As the rapper prepared to perform his hit single “Rack City,” the last song from his set, a group of concertgoers began to throw things on stage, infuriating the rapper. Footage of the incident made its way to YouTube shortly after. In the clip, an enraged Tyga begins shouting, “Who threw it?” before urging the culprit to see him outside after the show.
“I don’t give a f****. L.A. n****. I don’t give a f****, f*** you n****s. On some real sh**, you can meet me outside. I’mma do this one more motherf***in’ song for my fans, and then I’mma go outside you bitch ass n****,” Tyga yelled onstage.
Apparently, the culprits accepted the invite, and followed his van and trailer as it left the venue, before letting off multiple gunshots which struck the vehicle and its trailer.
Later after the incident, Tyga took to Twitter (@Tyga) to address the situation, writing: “Sh** happens and as a man I deal with those decision I make. Let’s be clear them was haters, not fans. My fans love me. I love them.”
Tyga is currently on the road, touring in support of his recently released sophomore album, Careless World: Rise Of The Last King.
