M.A.R.S. - Cormega, Saigon, Roc Marciano and Action Bronson

M.A.R.S. - Cormega, Saigon, Roc Marciano and Action BronsonSupergroups among rappers are projects that build excitement among fans when they are initially announced, but rarely do they ever pan out — see The HRSMN (Canibus, Ras Kass, Kurupt & Killah Priest), The Firm, and CRS (Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco & Pharrell).

With the emergence of Slaughterhouse, it seems artists are willing to give it a try though.

Enter M.A.R.S., a newly formed hip-hop group comprised of New York spitters: Saigon, Cormega, Roc Marciano, and Action Bronson.

Queens vet Cormega announced the formation, via his official Youtube channel, last week … promising to show the industry what the rhymesmiths can do.

“We up here finna do this M.A.R.S. jump-off, show n***s how to rhyme for real,” Mega says in the clip.

Update: Shortly after posting our story, Cormega responded to us via Twitter (@RealCormega), clarifying that M.A.R.S. is no “supergroup,” writing to us: “@ballerstatus no anti supergroup!”

Each member of the newly formed M.A.R.S. have released solo projects in the past 12 months — Saigon’s Warning Shots 3: One Foot In The Grave mixtape, Action Bronson’s Dr. Lecter and Well Done with Statik Selektah, Cormega’s Raw Forever, and Roc’s collaborative project with Gangrene, titled Greneberg — but apparently, they’re open to combining their efforts.

At press time, details about their project were unknown. However, the clip says a Large Professor-produced self-titled single and music video are forthcoming.

Stay tuned…
